Skiing and Snowboarding
There are eight different ski areas all within a 20 minute drive of the chalet. There are ideal areas for beginners and some epic off-piste runs to be found. Some areas are medium sized high-mountain with a variety of runs and a mixture of chair and drag lifts; others are tiny local areas with a couple of drag lifts and unrivalled tree runs. The area as a whole is much quieter and less touristy than the bigger resorts and on many occasions we have had fresh runs to ourselves all day long. Lift passes are bought on a day to day basis depending on conditions and the ski area visited. On the whole they are cheaper than big resorts costing about £25-£30 for a day pass.
Ski and Snowboard equipment hire can be arranged for your arrival and is charged separately.

The snowkiting in the area varies from high mountain passes to low level meadows. We have all wind directions covered. The potential for climbing and touring with the kite are plentiful. One of the areas is only accessible by snow cat making for a memorable day with a long free ride back down to the valley. There are flat areas for beginners and rolling landscapes with drops and wind lips for the more advanced to explore.
Big Blue offers a variety of courses in snow kiting, from 2 day beginner packages to hourly coaching, water and land kiting crossover courses and guided tours. Kite courses are charged separately as you never know how much will be achieved based on the weather during the week. On the whole we average over the whole season about 50:50 good to bad days.
Course prices include all the necessary equipment except ski/ snowboards. If you have your own kites bring them along. If not we have a comprehensive range of Ozone foil kites available to hire.
